The Story Behind Kitchio: Empowering Local Kitchens
Kitchio was born out of a simple observation. In a world dominated by delivery giants like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat, independent restaurants were losing their hardest-earned money. These monopolies charge commissions of up to 36% on every single order, which eats directly into staff wages, rent, and essential business profits.
Safwan, an 18-year-old student preparing to study Political Economy at university, wanted to create a fairer system. Having studied Computer Science, Economics, and Sociology at A-Level, he decided to channel his technical background into building an independent alternative. He believed that local kitchens should have direct access to their customers without paying a massive middleman tax.
Breaking the Delivery Monopoly
With Kitchio, Safwan designed a custom-branded ordering platform that empowers independent restaurants. Instead of routing traffic through crowded aggregator apps next to dozens of competitors, Kitchio builds businesses their own dedicated sites. Orders are taken directly, payments are routed instantly, and deliveries are automated via professional courier partners: all while keeping commissions at exactly 0%.
By helping kitchens bypass monopolies, Kitchio is restoring economic strength to local high streets. This is more than just software: it is a mission to build a more equitable, localized economy where restaurants keep the rewards of their labor.
